Five Ways to Strengthen your Internal Communication| 22nd May 2014
Internal Communications encompasses everything from managing company culture to strengthening employee engagement. With over 70% of senior managers interested in increasing employee engagement , it is staggering to find that the UK is a great deal below the global average when it comes to engaged employees. So how do you increase employee engagement within your organisation? Here are a few tips to get you started.
Video: Video provides a visual and much more personal channel to communicate company news, engage with staff and promote innovation. The ability to put a face to the name or job title, goes a long way in strengthening employee engagement within any organisation.
Newsletters: Keeping staff well informed and regularly updated on company news, brings staff together and helps strengthen your company culture.
Social Media: Using a business social media platform as a channel for internal communications opens up employee communications, creates a knowledge base and reduces emails. It also allows organisations - with large numbers of employees - to easily communicate with one another, regardless of geographical location.
Company Intranet: Company intranet systems allow you to organise and manage company data including: company policy, procedures, protocol, resources, corporate document, branding and logos. This can act as a repository enabling staff to access useful documents, share information and back up important files.
Social Gatherings: Social gatherings such as BBQ’s, picnics, birthday celebrations and special outings - increase staff morale and working relations. Also, getting staff involved in fundraising events, as part of your CSR strategy, is another excellent way to encourage employee engagement and staff collaboration.
