Record better video on your phone| 17th October 2014
To get the best possible video recordings with Miituu, make sure you follow these simple tips for recording better video.
What you see is what you get - the video on your screen when you are using Miituu will be what you record. Adjust your position, the location and where you put your device or computer so that your video is as flattering as possible. Don't forget about the background, and remember that being outdoors, for instance in front of plants, often gives both good light and nice-looking backgrounds.
Always make sure any light source falls onto your face, not directly over your head and not behind you. To get the best possible light in a video, make sure you position yourself so that any windows or lamps are in front of you. If you have them directly behind you, you are likely to look like a shadow or silhouette in your video.
When you record a video, whether it is to answer a question, provide feedback or to record a statement, make sure you look directly at the screen most of the time. Natural movement is fine, but returning your glance to the screen will give greater continuity and consistency for the viewer. If you are using a webcam you may want to consider placing your webcam or laptop on a small stand or box to elevate the camera slightly.
The correct breathing is important to make you sound your best in your video response. To help you relax, try this simple breathing exercise before you start recording your video: Look at the screen, breathe slowly in through your nose and then slowly out through your mouth. Try this for a minute before you start recording your question or response, drop your shoulders and notice how it helps you to relax. Hopefully this helps you find the process of recording your video easier. Try breathing in and out a couple of times before each new question or video to keep your breathing going.
When filming indoors, make sure you reduce external noise as much as possible. Close any windows and doors, find a quiet space and turn off noisy devices such as air conditioning units.
You will be able to make the best video recordings when you are relaxed. Take a couple of deep breaths and make sure you are in a comfortable setting. If you are new to recording videos of yourself, remember that you can record several times until you are happy to submit, so just give it a go and re-record if you need to. Try to relax and take confidence in the fact that your video is a great way to get your voice heard and your story told!
